To allow Xeriscape landscaping or … allow it

With planting season upon us, Boards and Design Review Committees may find themselves reviewing more Xeriscape or drought tolerant landscape plans from Homeowners. And while the first instinct may be to deny the request, you may not be able to.

In March of this year, Colorado House Bill 19-1050 was signed and enacted into law by the Colorado Legislature. This bill encourages the use of xeriscape in homeowners associations both in common areas and on private lots. It also prohibits covenants and rules that limit the use of xeriscape or drought tolerant landscape plans.
